I Root for You

This project centers on Marais de Wiels, an emerging marshland where biodiversity began to flourish unintentionally. The area developed due to the delayed execution of a planned construction project, which caused the groundwater to rise.

In this in-between state, nature found an opportunity to reassert itself. The wet conditions created a fertile environment for plants, insects, and other organisms to establish a thriving ecosystem. At the same time, traces of the intended urban development remain visible, resulting in a layered and paradoxical landscape.

The project documents how natural and artificial elements coexist and blur boundaries. In this space, structures not meant to support life begin to mimic the forms and functions of organic systems. The work reflects on the adaptability of nature and how, even in overlooked or unintended environments, life can emerge with strength and determination.
